The Best Oreo Mug Cake

Ingredients and Variations

You’ll only need these 3 pantry staples.

  • Oreos
  • Milk
  • Baking Powder

Oreos – There are now a bunch of Oreo flavor variants, but you can use any flavor you want. Birthday cake or double stuf? Go for it.

Milk – Feel free to substitute this with soy or almond milk

Baking Powder – Technically, you can skip this, BUT, I find that it helps give it a fluffy texture as opposed to just moist mush (which still taste great, btw).

Elevate your Oreo Mug Cake

  • Serve the mug cake with whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top for the ultimate dessert.
  • Add a tablespoon of cocoa powder and a handful of chocolate chips to make it even richer and chocolatier

How to Make The Best Oreo Mug Cake

  1. Make the cake batter: Add four Oreos to the mug and use a fork to crush them up. Add the milk on top and the baking powder. Crush up the Oreos even more, stirring them around while crushing as they soften in the milk and get the baking powder well incorporated.
  2.  Bake the cake: Put the Oreo mug cake in the microwave and cook for about 45 seconds-1 minute at 900W. Start with 45 seconds since you can always put the cake back in the microwave if it’s not done. Do a toothpick test. A few moist crumbs are ok but make sure it’s not liquidy. If it is, microwave for 10 more seconds till you reach a total of 1 minute cook time.
  3. Serve: Let the mug cake cool for a few minutes, then top with whipped cream and enjoy!

Pro Tips

  • Prevent a rubbery microwave cake. Make sure that it has enough liquid in it AND don’t microwave the mug cakes too long.
  • Don’t overcook it in to microwave. Similar to getting dry cakes when you over cook in the oven, mug cakes can become rubbery and hard if microwaved for too long. Check on it after 40 seconds in 900W setting and add 10 seconds at a time until the cake is not runny and toothpick comes out with only few moist crumbs (and not wet
